Allison Ross

My name is Allison Ross and I'm a new assistant coach with CCSC. I became interested in coaching a few years ago when I graduated college and wanted to stay connected to soccer even though I would no longer be playing the game myself. I went to college at Saint Louis University where I played on their club team during my time there while I focused on my studies of international business/supply chain management and my desire to give back to the community through community service. Before that, I spent my entire childhood playing on competitive travel teams based in Cincinnati, OH where I grew up. I have such fond memories of my childhood playing soccer, traveling with my team, and looking to continuously become a better player.

Currently I am not a full time coach because I work at University of Chicago Medicine as a Sourcing Category Leader managing the contracting, negotiations and strategic sourcing efforts for the HR, marketing and supply chain categories. I love my role at University of Chicago Medicine within business but truly look forward to packing up my laptop each day at 5pm and heading to one of our fields to coach the 2010 girls teams.

I chose CCSC because of the atmosphere of encouraging players to be better both on and off the field. There is a strong culture of inclusivity and a desire to connect with players to help them improve in all aspects of the game. I love a challenge and throughout my time at CCSC I've been encouraged to branch out, try new things as a coach, and truly connect with our players to develop strong relationships with them and an understanding of how they want to improve as players. One of the most rewarding things I have seen is watching our girls develop over a season and seeing them utilize concepts we work on during training throughout their games on the weekends.

Personally, I love traveling and have been to over 15 countries. I have spent time abroad in Spain for about half a year and although I came home no better at Spanish than I was when I left, I truly value my experiences I receive in traveling through learning about other cultures and ways of life. I have two kitties, Mowgli (3) and Duchess (1), who greet me every day after practice at the door and I've been involved in animal rescue since I was a child; my 2010 girls can attest to my love of animals since you can usually see me running to greet their dogs after games and trainings!
